Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 752 Bullet Resistant Equipment is the most widely accepted standard. This technical specification defines eight levels of attacks ranging from a 9 mm handgun to a 7.62 mm military rifle. This standard also defines the type of round, the muzzle velocity, and the number of shots each sample must successfully withstand. The UL 752 standard also specifies the environmental conditions at high and low temperatures so that bullet resistant glass can be used externally over a wide range of conditions.
